This course aims to help students comprehensively understand cultural and heritage tourism from multiple perspectives, including culture, history, anthropology, sociology, and economics. It is suitable for professionals working in public sectors, private institutions, or non-governmental organizations in the field of cultural heritage conservation, as well as members of the public interested in this area.
The programme is a Master of Arts (taught in English), comprising 30 credits, including 21 credits of compulsory courses and 9 credits of elective courses. Classes are held on weekday evenings or Saturdays, with some courses including field trips. The languages of instruction are English or Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese), and students are expected to have strong proficiency in both spoken and written English and Chinese.
Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification and meet the university's English language requirements. Full-time students must complete the programme within one year, while part-time students must do so within two years; extensions require approval from the school. 文化與遺產旅遊文學碩士(中、英文版)課程要求學生完成共30學分,其中包括21學分的必修科目(表一)和9學分的選修科目(表二)。必修課程涵蓋「香港非物質文化遺產專題探討」、「旅遊文化史:中國與世界」、「Heritage and Tourism」、「Economics of Tourism」、「研究方法及寫作(一)」(Graduate Research Writing and Methods I)、「研究方法及寫作(二)」(Graduate Research Writing and Methods II),以及「Principles and Practices of Conservation: An Asian Perspective」,每科均為3學分。選修課程包括「Tourism and Contemporary Society」、「Heritage Preservation in Hong Kong」、「香港歷史、社會與文化」,每科3學分,以及6學分的「文化及保育旅遊研究報告」(Research Project in Cultural and Heritage Tourism),學生可根據興趣選擇。此課程提供中英文版本,部分課程名稱以中英文並列,旨在培養學生在文化與遺產旅遊領域的研究與實踐能力。
