With the Hong Kong government promoting the development of Chinese medicine and the first Chinese medicine hospital expected to open in 2025, the prospects for Chinese medicine are broad. Meanwhile, the global use of Chinese herbal medicine is increasingly widespread, clinical demand continues to rise, and societal need for professionals in Chinese herbal medicine has become more urgent.
To address this, the School of Nursing and Health Sciences at Hong Kong Metropolitan University launched a Master of Pharmaceutical Science in Chinese Medicine program in 2023, primarily targeting graduates and working professionals with undergraduate backgrounds in Chinese medicine or related fields, offering them opportunities for further education. This program aims to equip students with specialized knowledge and practical skills in pharmaceutical science of Chinese medicine, meet societal demands for Chinese herbal pharmaceutical services, and prepare them to face future challenges in the development of Chinese medicine.
