申请要求

This degree in Professional Welsh is purposefully designed to build your confidence and capability to effectively communicate and work through the medium of Welsh.
The curriculum has been co-created by Canolfan Bedwyr, whose pioneering work in promoting and facilitating the use of Welsh in the workplace was previously recognised by a Bilingual Workplace Award from the Institute of Welsh Affairs.
Your language studies aim to increase your awareness of the different tones of the language and how Welsh is used in specific contexts, from news bulletins and reviews to summarising and short translation. Practical modules develop essential skills in presentation, professional writing, editing and translation.
There are opportunities to gain work experience in Welsh-speaking environments or engage with representatives from businesses who operate through the medium of Welsh. You can enjoy debate and discussion with novelists, poets, dramatists, editors, and producers. Our students have gone on fieldtrips and gained work placements with nearby broadcasting companies and studios, such as BBC Cymru and S4C.
Studying this Professional Welsh degree allows you to explore rich and diverse literary texts from the tales of the Mabinogion to the dynamic literature of contemporary Wales. Developing valuable critical thinking and analytical skills, you’ll be introduced to practices of literary criticism through detailed studies of historical and modern poems and individual prose pieces.
You can reflect critically on what you have learned and apply your knowledge. By the time you graduate, you will have a deep understanding of the Welsh language, greater cultural awareness, excellent communication skills ready to pursue a professional career working through the medium of Welsh.
