Starting from the 2022/23 academic year, The Education University of Hong Kong has implemented joint admissions for its two undergraduate programmes: the Bachelor of Arts in Music (Honours) and the Bachelor of Arts in Creative Industries (Music) (Honours). Bachelor of Arts in Music (Honours) Balances musical practice and theory, cultivating students’ professional competencies in composition, performance, music education, or conducting. Students select their major area of specialisation in Year 2 and pursue in-depth study in Years 3 and 4, culminating in a capstone Honours project presented as a portfolio, solo recital, teaching demonstration, or academic thesis. The curriculum emphasises Chinese and Western music history, theoretical analysis, pedagogy, and technological applications, and provides state-of-the-art facilities such as the Electroacoustic Music Centre and the Interdisciplinary Arts & Technology Laboratory, while also encouraging extensive performance opportunities. Bachelor of Arts in Creative Industries (Music) (Honours) Focuses on film and video game scoring, as well as popular music composition and performance, offering two specialisations: - Composition for Film, Television and Electronic Games: Develops narrative skills integrating music with visual media; - Popular Music Performance and Composition: Emphasises songwriting, vocal performance, and stage presence. Both programmes prioritise industry engagement, inviting scholars and musicians from around the world to interact with students and support their transition into professional careers.
